“Whatever success that I have had has been through writing
what I know about.”

― Ernest Hemingway

I’ve had so many books writing themselves in my head for SO many years that I’ve decided that it’s time to let at least ONE of them out!

You might have noticed that our “5-Minute Fixes” have disappeared from the rewriter.ca website, but it’s certainly not because we’ve run out! I’ve taken the 50 best “fixes” and now I’m working at revamping and reworking them into an ebook that is set to publish this fall.

While I’m certainly well accustomed to the art of writing, and to the even finer art of editing the work of my peers, I found the idea of actually putting the book together to be a particularly daunting task. The content is all there, but it’s the arranging and rearranging that’s the challenge. It is interesting to see how it all evolves from the original flash of inspiration through all the trials and errors involved in producing a finished product.

There is ONE aspect of this book that is entirely finalized, though. We’ve finalized the donation of $2 from the sale of every book to go to WORLD LITERACY CANADA and we are SO excited to contribute to such a worth cause.  Please take a moment to review their website and learn more!

Despite the small challenges, this book WILL be finished (guess what MY summer project is!) and I’m really looking forward to sharing how these 50 five-minute tasks can make a big difference in both your business and your personal life.

Watch for the pre-launch near the end of the summer! CONTACT ME if you’d like to set aside your copy now!

BLAME or RESPONSIBILITY?

You may not be aware of this…but YOU are responsible for whatever happens to you in your life. You are the author of YOUR life…the creator of YOUR reality…the master of YOUR thoughts…and the controller of YOUR actions.

For many people, this notion is a very hard thing to swallow. The idea that every event and every moment of your reality is created by you, through your own actions and thoughts can be very disturbing for some people. But…I fully believe it to be true that You have that spark in you that gives you unlimited ability to mould YOUR life and carve YOUR path.

You accomplish this through the power of your mind and by using your innate ability to CHOOSE the correct direction for you. If you think of yourself as a painter, then your actions are the brush strokes that shape the events on the canvas of your life. Your fears AND your aspirations actually prophesize your life! Your Creator (whoever that may be) has given you the power to make your choices in whichever areas you choose to place your efforts. You must use this power to shape the destiny that you choose for yourself.

But how do you react when things go severely wrong for you?

What do you do when your choices produce a very negative effect and perhaps affect others negatively also? Martin Luther King Jr is quoted as saying…
“The true measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

Accepting responsibility requires that you own up to your actions and accept your consequences. Shirking responsibility is as old as the first man, the first woman, and the first Humble Pie no one wanted to eat. Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the Serpent, and the Serpent didn’t have a leg to stand on.

Blaming others and shirking responsibility is not an action that I accept from my clients and I certainly will not practice it myself! I must lead by example…but this is not always a simple task. It can be humbling, embarrassing and uncomfortable. However “bad” the feeling, one must try to find the lesson in the situation in order for true growth to occur.

The reason most people stop blogging – and how to avoid it

If you’ve got a blog, newsletter, website or any other form of communication with your target market you will no doubt start nodding your head when we talk about the creativity or content hump? Unless you’re a professional writer, you will no doubt run in to times when other stuff comes first and with this blog that dilemma is constantly rearing its ugly head. After all, until the blog replaces clients it doesn’t pay the bills – that being said this blog has garnered us our fair share of clients so its proven to be a valuable part of our marketing so it requires at least a little attention…

Either way, we thought we would share some ideas to help you get over the overload “hump”.

3 easy ways to avoid blogging overload

Blogging overload occurs in a variety of ways; either you don’t know where to begin writing, or you’ve been blogging for 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months or any length of time and you’ve run out of gas or no longer stick to the schedule that you’ve set for your self when you started thinking about a blog. Here are some ideas sure to get your creative juices flowing.

Overload Avoider Idea 1 – Dig up some old articles, newsletters, emails or other stuff that you wrote before you even had a blog. With a little bit of editing, you’re looking at some new posts.

Overload Avoider Idea 2 – Schedule your posts. If you’ve made a deal with yourself to post to your blog every Wednesday, that doesn’t mean that you need to be physically writing your post each Wednesday. Take one morning each month write 4 posts about 4 different topics and schedule them for each Wednesday.

*To schedule or back date a post – when editing a post click the “edit” link in the “Publish” box in the right hand column. Change the date and time to either a date in the future or a past date to quickly start building your archives.

Overload Avoider Idea 3 – Invite friends or associates to write something to post in your blog that is related to your topic. By letting other people write stuff for you it promotes them and it helps to fill up your blog adding more posts that are searchable online and will bring more visitors and traffic. Be sure to thank or reference them and link back to their website or contact info.

BONUS Overload Avoider – Create your own special program – challenge yourself to do something like lose weight, make money, learn a program, or conduct a survey (or something else really unique and creative). Not only will it keep you interested and attract followers, but in the end you will also have material that you can compile into an ebook.
